Pretty French farm table

Hi guys, hope everyone is having a fabulous long weekend.  Mine has been wonderful so far. I've finally met Christine and Rob a wonderful couple from smith falls Ontario, we have been Facebook friends for awhile so it was nice to finally meet in person.  We had a lovely time hanging around the campfire roasting marshmallows and drinking a great coffee. An all around fabulous evening a great way to start the weekend. Today I'll spend the day with my cousin who's visiting from Toronto she is absolutely my best friend, but since my move to the country 7 years ago and busy family life, our visits are a lot further apart than they use to be making them so precious when we find the time for each other. I have also been up to this fabulous farm table makeover.  It all started last winter when my patio table fell victim to a terrible windstorm, and the glass top was shattered.  I was going to go out and buy a new one untill I saw Courtney's post at French Country Cottage you can check it out here.www.frenchcountrycottage.blogspot.com/2012/01/chippy-vintage-table. html. It totally inspired me to fix my table myself it came out beautiful, and it cost no more than 40 dollars-gotta love that!. So the hubs and I got together and created this..............Here's how we did it.

 We started with  just a frame

 Then I ran out to the local lumber store and  got all the lumber we needed and had it cut.

 Then I pieced the table together Sort of like a puzzle

Then the hubby screwed it together for me

 We then placed it on top of the frame

 After I gave it a whitewash of course..

It turned out so pretty, I like it better than it was before

I'm absoluely in love with my new farm table, I think it sort of has a french vibe dont you ?Now I'm on to painting the frame and chairs I'm also looking for the perfect fabric to recover the chairs, but thats for another post.... The small Things....

Just wanted to take a minute and share with you my sweet mother's day details. ?. My sweet little guys showed me once again that it's the small things in life that count. And really make life make sense in all the chaos that surrounds us every day.

DIY MASON JAR MADNESS. .LACE LANTERNS

Hi again all you beautiful blogland friends, it's time for the next mason jar madness post.. this weekscraft was super easy and really fun and I think my fave so far . These lovelies are so simply stunning I can't wait to hang them up all over the back 40 (that's my wooded area beyond my backyard) I'm in the middle of transforming into a romantic family getaway.

Here's what you'll need Spay glue adhesive I used Elmer,  mason jars, lace or eyelet fabric, twine , spray paint (optional) and ribbon

 First cut your fabric to fit your jars then Spray your jars with glue, then place pre-cut fabric on the jar and wrap jar completely

Meanwhile spray paint the lids of your jar (optional my lids were gold and I wanted a vintage metal look) I used a hammered silver paint.

Then take your twine and wrap around yor jar untill you reach desired thickness use yor glue to secure.

add ribbon for detail (if you want) replace your lids and display, you can use these as latterns , candle holders and vase's they are so pretty and super easy to make.

My pretty little Lace look alike table makeover. ..

Hi guys so remember that really cute table I bidded on at the auction last tuseday well I got busy chicin it up  yesterday and I LOVE the way it turned out it's fabulous I think it  has a lace look to it . I dont know where I'm going to put it yet..... but I know I'll find the perfect  spot for it. So here is a little" before and after"  for you.

Is she pretty or what.....

I'm totally in love with this table, and the sweet magnolia tree in the backround-took this shot at my friend Susan Keeping's , sadly I dont have my own magnolia, but I may have to treat myself to one for mothers day..... Susan tells me they bloom every year in time for mothers day........a gift that keeps on giving gotta love that .         bye for now  xoxo Elle

DIY MASON JAR MADNESS....SHABBY PAINTED MASON JARS

Hi  guys hope everyone's weekend was fabulous. So as I previously posted.....This month at the chic shack of Elle... We are having mason jar madness-and I''ll be posting a pretty mason jar craft weekly here's this weeks installment...

.Here's what you'll need to create these pretty shabby painted jars .    1) Mason jars
 2) paint.....I used craft  paint from the dollar store ,but anything you have on hand should be fine, I also played with the paint a bit to get the shades I wanted for my jars...
3) you'll ned a little bit of plaster of paris (availible at most craft or hardware stores).4) paint brush or sponge brush whatever you perfer to work with.5)A piece of sand paper 6)fabric ties

I know there is food coloring in the pic ( not needed it's s sitting there from another project)!
Now that you have your supplies.... mix up plaster of paris according to directions ( I made just enough for my project) not too much as it sets pretty quickly.

Then just add your paint color mix it up and paint on to jars, paint thin even layers letting dry completly between coats. Next take your piece of sandpaper and shabby it up a bit. Then add some fabric ties on the mouth of the jars...

In no time, you will have these beautiful shabby mason jar vases.. You could also turn one into a soap dispenser I'm working on one for next week.

OUT JUNKIN...THIS WEEKS FINDS

Hi guys, happy Thursday to y'all so dont laugh at me, but I'm going to be completely honest here -and tell you that thou I'm a avid junker ,always prowling second hand shops, antique sales,  and yard sale's...  and yes! even at times a garbage picker I HAVE NEVER BEEN TO AN AUCTION I  know it's crazy! Well I finally popped that cherry, and I'm hooked!  GG took me to a local auction on tuesday night. What a rush! it's a  total new kind of shop therapy! So while there I fell in love with this really cute side table thingy , but being ny first time I was a little shy so when my table finally came up I had GG start the biding for me at 10 dollars  one other lady must have saw the beauty in my table cause she upbided us, well I was having none of it, lets just say the lioness in me emerged andI'm a natural at this..because I took right over the bidding war and WON! I got my table for 30 dollars (I was willing to pay forty ;) so I'm happy. Take a look ......

 Cute right.... I love that it folds up , cant wait to shabbie this peice up.....K so remember how I told you I sometimes do the odd garbage pickin well.... outback of the auction hall there is a pile of you gussed it! GARBAGE... and cast offs, broken stuff, ect.. well lookie what I found.....

I know! Awesome right.... so a little fairy dust here, some fabric there and bam! garbage no more.. So very excited to fix these baby's up.. so really it was 3 for 1 day at the auction hall ..
